So I was watching and listening to the Lady Gaga "Alejandro" video on TV (don't try to convince me that you haven't seen it -- everyone who isn't actually sightless has seen it).

And I thought. Ah Western Culture, it had a pretty good run for 25 centuries and nothing lasts forever.

Die alte Aechzener said...: I've been hearing this since at LEAST the Beatles, and I'm pretty sure it was said of Elvis as well. Come to think of it, Petronius the Arbiter said much the same 2000 years ago (of course that was Nero's court so he was prolly right).

My reaction really was "oh well western culture wasn't so great anyway."
