Inspiringly moderate or moderately inspiring ?

Obama said that it's “not acceptable for children and families to be without a roof over their heads in a country as wealthy as ours.” Evidently it is acceptable for single adults to be without a roof over their head.

I'm pretty sure he meant what he said and said what he meant. That he intends to try to eliminate child homelessness but does not intend to try to eliminate adult homelessness.

Oddly, I really find his declaration moderately inspiring just because it is so unreasonably modest. If he had said homelessness was "not acceptable", I would have assumed that he meant "not good" and that he planned to accept it. His strangely moderate condemnation of homelessness strikes me as a declaration of serious intention.

Now that doesn't mean that he can eliminate family homelessness, but I wouldn't put it past him (with luck a lot of luck).

Oddly, I find Obama's worry about the homeless in America to be the essence of imperial hypocrisy for a President bent on creating homeless in Afghanistan and Pakistan. But about such warring, supposed liberals are either uncaring or pleased.

Obama Bullets

"NATO-led troops shot dead two Afghan farmers who were watering their land in east Afghanistan, a police chief said." *

[No homelessness for those farmers, I suppose.]

So, we have a humble President warring in poorer than poor Afghanistan and determined to war in Pakistan as well. Like Nixon in Cambodia and Laos. There is an entirely new sort of humility.

Quick, alert the supposed liberal Obama must be worshiped police. So much for a peace movement, when even willing liberals, real liberals, are too afraid. Alert, the Obama academic police patrol.
