Why Not

It is generally agreed that a greater improvement in health can be achieved by healthy behavior (no smoking, don't eat till your obese, exercise some, not too much saturated fat, light on the salt) and preventive medicine (mostly managing high blood cholesterol, high blood pressure, and type II diabetes). Brad DeLong wants barefoot nurses to knock on US doors. I have another idea

Everyone can get health insurance paid from general revenues if they show up in a clinic every 5 months to be weighed and have blood drawn and be nagged and, if they need a prescription seen by an MD at the clinic.

No violation of the 4th amendment here. Something for something.

In my heart (unprotected by the statin which I have neglected to take for 2 weeks) I know this will never ever happen. Why not ?
