CAPITOL HILL Senate leaders expect 50 (b) billion dollars in cuts in transit security funds, which came just three weeks before London's bus and subway bombings, will be restored.
A top top budget aide to Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist says that -- at a minimum -- that money will be restored as Congress returns this week from its July fourth break.
Indeed, there's pressure for a lot more money. New York Senator Charles Schumer promises to try to double the level of rail and subway security funds -- to 200 million (m) dollars --when the full Senate takes up bill.
