Without DeLay

Oh what joy it was to be alive on that good morn but to be young was ...
tell me about it in comments kids.

The end of Tom DeLay's career in congress is delightful, especially because it was decided by Sugarland voters and not directly by the judiciary. However, DeLay is just one person and the K street project endures.

I remember when it seemed that Newt Gingrich embodied everything that was wrong with the Republicans and thus the US government. I also remember more recent days when, compared to DeLay, he seemed to be a statesman, or at least an interesting policy intellectual.

It seems impossible now, but Boehner who handed out checks from Tobacco lobbyists on the house floor might make us miss DeLay. It won't be over until enough crooks get nailed that congressmen who are willing to sell their votes decide it is in their interest to tell lobbyists to stay away until until the heat gets less extreme. That is to say, it won't be over.
